Shanna Lavalle is a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies where she is using genetics and genomics to identify functional risk variants in autoimmune disorders and cancers. She received her PhD from UC San Diego in Biomedical sciences, where her thesis worked focused on reproductive neuroendocrinology. Outside of the lab, she has taken on numerous leadership roles with the Association for Women in Science at both the chapter level and with the national organization.
